When I first came up with the idea for Throwback Thursday posts, I thought I was brilliant. I thought I’d be able to, each week, come up with a story about my childhood and the past and tell it effortlessly. While I was able to do that a few times, I quickly became stuck. I am a firm believer in leaving the past in the past, and trying to come up with “throwback” stories to tell without so much as a picture from the past became a trigger for some repressed memories. On top of that, it was easy to run out of ideas and stories to write about without inspiration. I considered giving up and not doing these posts anymore, but I thought of Instagram and how quickly we are to post “#TBT” photos. From here on out, I plan on incorporating the idea of posting a Throwback Thursday picture and writing a little blurb about the picture. I hope you enjoy!
They say that if you love what you do, you’ll never have to work a day in your life. I’d be lying if I said this was entirely true in my case. I cannot sit here and say that I love my job every single day and am eager to go to work every single day. (I don’t hate it either, don’t get me wrong) What I do love about my job are the people I work with. Sometimes it is both a blessing and a curse to have such a close, tight-knit bond with your coworkers. Some days, we butt heads. But at the the end of the day, I don’t think you can find a closer group of friends both at the workplace or outside of the workplace. My coworkers are the reason I’ve stayed employed at the same store for almost eight years. If not for them, the friendships we’ve built along the way, the outrageous jokes and the closeness we share, I’m almost certain I would not be there. We’ve all grown so close over the course of the years and have built a little family amongst each other and for that, I am grateful. How many people can say they met their best friend at work? I don’t know what it’s like to go to work and not have a little fun and laugh (sometimes at each other’s expense) and I hope to never find out. My coworkers are the reason I have a good time while I’m working and are responsible for the bulk of my fond memories (both at work and outside of work) over the past eight years. I wouldn’t have it any other way.
“Life is an awful, ugly place to not have a best friend.”
Until next time!
